Rahul Dev Burman ( aka RD and fondly called Pancham by his friends and associates) always released a musical album, in Bangla, for his numerous fans during the Durga Puja. As a youngster, I always eagerly waited for the album to be bought at the local music-store. It always made my moments during the days of the Durga Puja, as also of many others like me, a great experience!Once the sound-bytes would enter the head and soak the mind, I would hardly feel any boredom or loneliness being with myself- especially in the period 1983- 1993…when he was alive. So was my inner self- kindled by the sparks of his brilliance...
I still fondly recollect those days…
Given below is a link from Euphony who have hosted recordings of RD's voice... great effort by the associates of the Maestro! In the same breath I thank the countless enthusiasts who have uploaded, especially on the youtube, from their own collections, videos that have RD's music in the background. Fans like me/us are indebted!
The first third of the page hosts 06 (six) scratch audio recordings of R.D.Burman interacting with his ‘team’…His voice, the harmonium and the dholak/tabla lots of Da Da Da, La La La, (no lyrics) that’s all…
[Probably, RD didn’t realise at that time, that even his amateurish recordings would be up on the public domain... the MAN, in exuberance, (unfortunately) erred on the second (scratch) audio track : ‘Dil Mein Mere jo Sama Gayee’… the audio track on the approximately 1:53 min to 1:54 min (were better beeped) : I guess , it would be apt to say that ’Usne Kha li kasam’ ;The lyrics was not in place and I don't blame him entirely. Listener’s discretion advised. The rest of the samples are okey]

(this one, the link above, is the final audio output of ‘Dil Mein Mere jo Sama Gayee’ , uploaded on youtube; the film : Jhootha Kahin Ka ; A scene of fantasy being narrated by a romantic Rishi Kapoor in a garage) …year was 1979. :-)

Hindi Lyrics of the very beautiful Song: (to help you hum with the song and get a better feel)
Hawa-ye Prabhaati, sunaaye, jagaaye,
jag saara dheere dheere jaage re - (twice)
Hawa-ye Prabhaati, Hawa-ye Prabhaati

Jaane kahaan se chahlake ujaale jaage gulaabi sawere
chhupake koyi nile gagan se dharati pe sona bikhere.
O o o... chhupe kahaan jaake ghanere andhere
Jag saara naya naya laage re
Hawaaye Prabhaati, sunaaye, jagaaye,
jag saara dheere dheere jaage re
Hawa-ye Prabhaati, Hawa-ye Prabhaati
Din yun hi aaye, yun hi chala jaaye
mann pe toh chhaaye andhere
jaane kab-hO suraj aaye, mann mein jo kirane bikhere.
O o swarg dhara pe utaarein sawaarein
Soye soye mann ko jaga ke re
hawaaye prabhaati sunaaye jagaaye
jag saara dheere dheere jaage re
hawa-ye prabhaati, hawa-ye prabhaati
It is hoped that the humble insight into the works of the Genius is appreciated!
